i'm tamala edwards with nydia han. matt o'donnell is off this morning. we're working on several developing stories. >> the search is on for a toddler after an alligator snatched him away right in front of his parents at a disney resort. we are live with the latest. >> a shooter is on the run after firing a barrage of bullets into a crowd in delaware leaving several young people hurt. >> happening today, students will remember their young classmate who was killed in the orlando nightclub shooting. >> first up, though, we're going to take you over to dave murphy to take a look at your accuweather and karen rogers to tell you what's going on on the roads. good morning. >> we're off to another decent start across the region. rain out in the west by pittsburgh. we'll keep an eye on that. there might be a sprinkle or light shower that comes through later today. early we'll see some sunshine but you can see these clouds gathering and it is going to be a day that features increasing clouds in general. 62 degrees is your current temperature, though. humidity still on the low side so feeling pretty comfortable out there. 54 in allentown, 59 in wilmington, 56 in trenton, 63 on the boardwalk in cape may and a little less of a breeze this morning than what we've

had the last couple mornings. as we roll through the day if you're doing a workout, 65 degrees by 7 o'clock, good morning to get stuff done. 75 degrees by 10 o'clock and then it does get warm this afternoon. 80 degrees by noon and your high of 82 will probably be kind of early in the day, say, 2 o'clock but we'll still be holding the upper 70's by 6 o'clock. we'll have your phillies home forecast and the union playing at home tonight, too, let you know how things are going to be for this evening and then karen we've got some rain coming in overnight and tomorrow morning. >> yeah, so tomorrow morning we could be driving through some rough weather but not today. as you look outside live here admiral wilson boulevard approaching 130 we've got construction out here. we expect this to be one of the big problems through the morning rush so construction blocks the two right lanes, also on 38 eastbound a lot of people that of there way 38 eastbound past 130 construction blocks two lanes. we expect that to happen again during the rush hour as we take a look at 95 this is northeast philadelphia as you head towards cottman you can see roads are clear and dry.

construction has cleared. the ramps have reopened in this area so things are looking good on i-95 with no delays. same situation on the vine street expressway. we had it closed overnight for construction. you can site opened nice and early so leak looking live westbound, eastbound moving okay but crews will return again tonight at 11 o'clock and shut the vine down in both directions then. tam and nydia. >> thank you karen. developing overnight another horrific ordeal coming out of orlando. a toddler was dragged down into a lagoon at disney world by an alligator and it all happened right in front of his parents who tried their best to fight off that gator. "action news reporter katherine scott is live in our satellite center with more on the story we've been following all morning. it just breaks your heart, katherine. >> reporter: makes your heart hurt, tam. yeah, this family was on vacation from nebraska. they were near the edge of a lake last night when the unthinkable happened. the search continues this morning after a two-year-old boy was dragged into the water by an alligator in florida. the family of five from

nebraska was wading near the water's edge at the seven seas lagoon at disney's grand floridian resort and spa when the alligator attacked. >> the father entered the water and tried to grab the child, was not success null doinsuccessful indoing so many t i'm told the mother may have also entered the water. >> reporter: the alligator was described as between four and 7 feet long. a team of 50 law enforcement personnel and two marine units were dispatched. the fish and wild live commission was called in. >> from different parts of our region to come as assist and we're putting every effort into locating the child and trapping this alligator. >> reporter: chris pekula watched from his nearby hotel room, boats in the water a helicopter overhead. >> come down here for vacation and now, you know, now something like this happens to them and that's more -- you feel sadness for the family. >> reporter: the attack

happened in an area where no swimming signs were posted. disney which is the parent company of 6abc is cooperating with authorities. >> everyone here at the walt disney world resort is devastated by this tragic accident. our thoughts are with the family. we are helping the family. >> as a father, as a grandfather, we're going to hope for the best in these circumstances, but based upon my 35 years of law enforcement experience, we know that we have some challenges ahead of us. >> reporter: there are no other recent reports of similar attacks in the area. the search will continue until this little boy is recovered. we're live from the satellite center katherine scott channel6 "action news." tam. >> katherine, thank you. five people including three children are on the mend after a gunman opened fire in wilmington. the shooting occurred just after 9 o'clock last night on van buren street near reed street. police are looking into the possibility this shooting may

be related to another shooting that happened on monday night. no one has been arrested in either shooting. much more on this shooting in a live report in the next half hour of "action news." >> ♪ >> now to the latest on the shooting massacre in florida. a bright spot appeared in orlando following the tragedy. following a rainstorm a rainbow appeared over the gay nightclub that was the scene of the terrible crime. >> those in the area quickly captured that image and shared it on twitter. omar mateen killed 49 people and injured 53 other during what's now become known as the worst mass shooting in united states history. >> akyra murray the youngest victim of the nightclub at pulse nightclub will be remembered by her classmates. she was a honor student and basketball star at west catholic preparatory high school. her mother tells "action news" that scammers are trying to take advantage by setting up bogus go fund me sites in akyra's name. if you want to tone 98 the memorial fund is directly through citizens bank bank. >> a heart wrenching glimpse

into the horror inside the nightclub sunday morning. philadelphia native patience carter choked back tears as she talked about what she calls the guilt of her survival. >> so, we're all like scrambling around in the bathroom screaming at the top of our lungs when he was in there for the first time and then, you know, people are getting hit by bullets like blood is everywhere and then there was a moment where he stopped shooting in the bathroom and at that point we knew that this wasn't -- this wasn't a game, this was very real and this is -- and this is something that was really happening to us right now. and it was shock. we just went from having the time of our lives to the worst night of our lives all within a matter of minutes. >> the 20-year-old is a university city high school graduate now attending nyu. be sure to stick with "action news" for the newest developments in the orlando massacre and on where we're sharing the stories of those lost and the stories of the survivors. >> ♪ >> it is 5:06 and new this

morning a 54-year-old woman faces criminal charges for firing a gun into a fast food restaurant in the poconos. it happened at the burger king on lincoln avenue in east stradsburg yesterday morning. police say mary check trove up to the drive through window argued with employees about a past fast food order and demanded free food. check then pulled out a gun threatened to shoot employees and fired a shot through the drive through window. none of the employees or customers in the restaurant were injured. the father of the 17-year-old girl killed by a hit-and-run driver is pleading for someone to come forward. markalyah jackson was killed while crossing the roosevelt boulevard at adams avenue last night in the city's summerdale section. police say a minivan hit her and knocked her 180 feet down the street. the driver never stopped. investigators say the minivan involved is likely white or silver and has damage to its front end and windshield. jackson's family has a message for whoever was driving that minivan. >> come forward. just come forward. it's overwhelming.

i can't speak right now. i'm at a loss for words. i just want the person that hit my daughter to come forward. >> jackson was about to graduate from excel academy. >> jury deliberations will begin in the corruption trial of philadelphia congressman chaka fattah. closing arguments wrapped up in center city yesterday. fattah's lawyers argued the money a friend spent buying his family lavish items was not part of a bribery scheme. the prosecution has been trying to make the case fattah was corrupt paying back an illegal campaign loan with federal grant money and using nonprofit money to help family and friends. >> time now to turn to accuweather. we've got a great run of days. you say nice today but some rain could be coming our way. >> yeah, a couple of spotty showers today. i think today's mainly try but you're right later tonight especially after midnight some more significant showers, maybe even some thunderstorms by tomorrow morning, oh, my. storm tracker6 live double scan though this morning shows you that we are dry and as we take a look outside we're going to see early sunshine before those clouds start to get thicker. down the shore looks like plenty of sun coming up over

the horizon shortly. then we transition to amore cloudier afternoon as we roll later through the day. 54 degrees stepping outside in allentown right now, same thing in reading, 62 comfortable degrees in philadelphia. dewpoints are still low enough where it's not feeling all that humid. not quite as much of a breeze out there this morning as the last couple mornings. low 60's down on the boardwalk at this early hour. there you see the clouds starting to spill through the region. obviously they're thicker out to the west and there are some showers out there. we might wind up later today with a little spotty shower popping through at times and i think most of the day is going to be dry. lehigh valley increasing clouds today, warm with a high of 83 degrees. mainly dry. can't totally rule out a little sprinkle or shower and it's the same story at the shore today. increasing clouds a-bit warmer today with high of 76 on the beach, ocean temperature still struggling up into the mid 60's starting to get a little bit warmer on the water and a slight chance of a spotty passing shower this afternoon at the shore. and today in philadelphia increasing clouds, warm, 82 is your high. winds a little bit lighter than the last couple of days

and again that spotty shower can't be ruled outer. for the union tonight it looks like we have a good chance of staying dry. you'll have lots of clouds around. mild temperatures. 77 for the first touch and 71 degrees as stoppage time runs out in the second half f you're going to the phillies pretty much the same story probably topping to about 70 by the end of the phillies contest tonight. overnight mostly cloudy with rain developing. most our rain tonight will probably be after midnight and then toward morning you'll wind up with some showers and maybe even some thunderstorms. latest model run just in shows that you by 5:30 in the morning when we're on the air yes there could be a line of thunderstorms coming through. it does look like we dry out and clear out though later in the day. your seven-day from accuweather, today's high is 82. not bad. increasing clouds, mainly dry and then we got that rain overnight in through tomorrow morning with some thunderstorms possible and a high of 76. 82 with perhaps a little shower early and some sun later in the day on friday. and then it looks great for the weekend, 83 on saturday. we're going to bump that number up to 87 on sunday and

>> ♪ >> welcome back. taking a live look here the commodore barry, beautiful wednesday morning out there. it is 5:14, 62 degrees right now. >> let's get a check of the roads with karen rogers. hi, karen. >> good morning, everybody. making it halfway through the week. we're doing okay this morning. we're dry. no weather related problems on the roads. looking here in chester county, wered some construction here on 202 approaching the 30 bypass here but it has just cleared so traffic moving better right now and not seeing any delays. we still have a building fire to warn you about so watch for this right now in lansdale on fifth street and mitchell avenue. we'll have crews out there on the scene. you might just want to is it particular third and dannon to avoid the crews out there working with that. northeast extension southbound past lansdale construction

still out there blocking the right lane. we've got crews out there working this morning. as well as in berks county, they've got i-78 eastbound shut down and that's at 863 between that and route 100, stick to 222 as your alternate for that one. let's go to the commuter traffic report. we found someone out here talking about a chain that's on the road on the blue route southbound near plymouth meeting so just watch for that one being reported. how about the temperatures starting your day kind of cool out there, feels good to start you off. it's only 50 degrees in martins creek and pottstown, 53 in coatesville. 62, though, a little better in center city itself. in some of the suburbs in new jersey, you're mostly in the 50, like 57 in hammonton, 56 in glassboro and 56 right now in dover, delaware. today we're going to see increasing clouds, chance for a shower, a nice high, though, of 82 degrees. tam and nydia. >> all right, thank you karen. a teenager was fatally wounded and six other people injured during a vigil in downtown oakland california. video showed windows apparently shot out at a restaurant at or near the

crime scene. police say three people suffered gun shot wounds and three others got unspecified injuries in addition to the teen who was killed. witnesses reported hearing at least nine shots. the victims were attending a vigil connected to a recent drowning incident. no one has been arrested. new this morning, the judge in the stanford rape case under fire for what many saw as too lenient a ruling has been removed from a similar sexual assault case. yesterday santa clarita officials took aaron perskie off the case of a male nurse accused of sexually assaulting a patient under sedation. perskie's removal came after protests. the d.a. said his office lacked confederate in the judge. perskie sentenced brock turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. >> a mom is accused of leaving her young son in a hot car while she went out to buy beer. the entire incident was captured on surveillance video in iowa. the 24-year-old mother walked into the store and was there for six and a half minutes.

outside it was 92 degrees. the car was running but the sun was shining right on the toddler. officers showed up and arrested the mom as she was about to drive off. a six month old puppy was rushed into emergency surgery after she swallowed gorilla glue. lake found the glue that had been left out by a family member. it wasn't too long after the puppy ate some of that glue that wilson noticed something was wrong. lake's stomach started to expand. during the emergency surgery this is what they found, a mold of her stomach solid as a rock. lake is now back home and recovering quickly. >> my goodness. the phillies host the blue jays at citizens bank park tonight. pitcher jeremy hellickson will be on the mound. zach eflin made his debut yesterday. he pitched in place of vincevillsquez.

brief spotty shower or sprinkle pops through at some point later today but it's mainly dry. 80 degrees by noon. your high of 82 is actually going to be kind of early in the day, say, around 2 o'clock. not a bad day overall, though. if you are trying to fly out of here today, don't know why you would want to but maybe you have to, you've got all green aircraft. no major delays but out in chicago we have some rain right now so that's an area where you might have a little bit of trouble later on. nydia and tam. >> all right, thank you, david. going on to health check the government has come up way plan in case mosquitos start spreading zika in the u.s. health officials are not expecting big outbreaks like the ones we've seen in latin america and the caribbean but they think some local cases in the u.s. are likely. they say state officials can call on the cdc to help destroy the mosquitos and breeding sites. the zika virus can cause fetal deaths and severe birth defects in children of women who are infected during pregnancy. new weight loss option the fda approved a new antiobesity device but it has a burden for

>> ♪ >> in the morning buzz, the kansas board of education voted to ignore the white house directive on transgender students and bathrooms. last month president obama had said all public schools in the nation must allow transgender students to go to the bathroom that matches their gender identity. the board instead voted to let each school district make that decision. whether or not it's going to follow the president's orders. what remains unclear is what the districts are going to now do and whether this vote will endanger over $479 million in federal aid to kansas. philadelphia native and comedian kevin hart was taken for $500,000 worth of personal items when burglars broke into his l.a. home over the weekend. the stolen items include jewelry clothes and watches. thankfully nobody was home when the break in happened. authorities are now taking a look at surveillance cameras from the home for possible leads. hart's latest film central intelligence hits theaters in a couple of days on friday. good news for kanye west

>> ♪ >> we're following breaking news right now. the action cam is live at the scene of a multi alarm fire in trenton. the fire broke out on south clinton avenue and butler street at 4:30 this morning and quickly spread. the fast moving flames have damaged three homes. so far there are no reports of any serious injuries. >> developing now on "action news," a desperate search is under way at disney world in orlando after an alligator

gets ahold of a little boy. >> and five have been wounded in wilmington. police are still sorting out the details of the wild shooting. one victim could be as young as 13 years old. >> the focus of the orlando terror probe comes to the gunman's wife. >> we'll get to all of that in just a moment. right now let's go over to dave murphy and to karen rogers. good morning. >> good morning, everybody. and we're off to a decent start this morning. humidity still on the low side. there are a few more clouds that are trying to dig through the region. but i do think we're going get a fair amount of early sun. later in the afternoon the clouds get thick and we'll keep our eyes on the showers out by pittsburgh and south central pennsylvania. it's possible some of those pop through. i think most of the day will be dry and anything that makes it east should be on the light side and fairly brief side. 62 degrees in philadelphia, 59 currently as you step outside in wilmington. so pretty comfortable out there. 56 in trenton, 54 this morning in allentown. similar to the last couple mornings. excel on the boards in cape may. maybe a few trees cooler for your morning
